Almost forgot that there's still a war there

Good article from Politico Magazine about the almost forgotten war going on in Afghanistan. I don't totally agree with Bing West (the writer) that Afghanistan is going to follow the way of Iraq, but I thought it was a well written piece, anyway.

I especially the line: (Afghanistan) “hurtling headlong into the 9th century.”

After only 240 years, someone finally decided to stay with England.  But hey, that's still a better record than Espana or France :-)

Alright Catalonia, Scotland struck out, it's your turn at bat.  Good luck and swing for the fences!

Love, Grandpa and Grandmaster Flash

A rather funny article in Buzzfeed about how auto-tagging is making Grandmaster Flash everyones electronically challenged grandmother.

...and more funny post/texts

The Future Lightweight Auto

Just read a great article in Jalopnik about a Renault concept car. I've thought quite a bit about the design of the future car, and my version would've used more fiberglass parts instead of plastic, a transmission free electric motor(s) attached to the rear wheel to save weight and cost, and the entire roof, rear & side windows, A/C pillars made of polymer. But I love their design, especially since their the real engineers and production managers.  Alas, unless Nissan uses the design, we'll never see it on this side of the pond.

It's All at the Mall

Read an article about how a defunct mall has become a giant aquarium.  Now that is a mall I wouldn't mind visiting.

Robert Downey, Jr. as Car Man

Apparently, Robert Downey Jr. is more interesting than Tony Stark.  Or at least, he has a better car collection, according to this Jalopnik article.  It's interesting what happens when you stop putting all your money up your nose, isn't it, Downey?
