Update on Motorola Atrix

Topic: Technology

Here's a little update on the Atrix.  Apparently the retail price, with a 2 year contract, is $149, the smarttop (apparently faux laptop is out), the HD docking port will go for $60, and it could be available as early as February 11th.  I haven't really found much info on the Bionic, Verizon version of the Atrix.  I saw some stories about the Motorola Xoom tablet, but frankly the Atrix pretty much blows everything else out of the water.

Update: AT&T will be selling the Atrix in March for $200 with a 2 year contract or $500 with the laptop. Even though I'm disappointed, this pricing makes more sense.

I Hate the Flu

I'm just recovering from the flu.  If there's one thing that I really hate is being sick.  I've pretty much hibernated the entire weekend and feel 90% well.

Another Great Article on the Motorola Atrix

Topic: Technology

I just read this article in PC World about how the Atrix is a game changer.

Not to get all gushy or anything, but I think one of Harry's best opinion columns here was the one from March 2009 about how smartphones are destined to replace the PC, and how the comforts of full-sized computing -- keyboard, mouse, monitor -- will become dumb shells for our powerful handsets... more

Motorola Atrix

Topic: Technology

I just feel in love with the "best in show" product at CES, called the Motorola Atrix.  I stated on Facebook that it might just make the desktop, laptop, and tablet obsolete.  I took a bit of grief from my technology homeboys for saying that but I still back up what I say and consider it revolutionary.  Below is the best explanation for why it is a revoluntionary.  Thank you ArtofTech for explaning it better than I could.

All who call this device useless,
Do not limit your mind to the possibilities of this device. Many of you are thinking in a “habitual” manner. By this I mean, you ask yourself, ” How does this device better my current practices? “. Many of you must have an employer that provides you with a computer to work on. When you leave work, you leave it all behind. And when you reach your house you can use all the tech toys to do what you want. This is where you are limiting yourself. Think of this device as a micro-computer. Here are a couple of uses for this device:
1. Use it as a media server EVERYWHERE you go. With it being DLNA enabled you can play your music, video, movies, pictures in anyone’s house that has a DLNA enabled device (i.e. computers, blu-rays players, media players). So if you go to a buddy’s home you can play your music through his /her kick ass system directly streaming from your phone. How about grandma? You can show her all those pics of your kids or dumb stunts on the TV screen. Again streaming directly from your phone. NO WIRES NEEDED!
2. If your employer allows you to do work on your personal laptop then you can easily plug this device at your home docking station or at the office docking station. Why is this good? Well you will ALWAYS HAVE YOUR WORK WITH YOU. It is like taking your office with you. You have access to your work documents all the time! Even while commuting. You can talk on it and send the files at the same time. How many times have people forgotten files at the office or at home? Forget remote connecting back to your home or office to try and retrieve files. You will ALWAYS have them with you.
3. Use it as a phone! What a concept!
4. Carrying your phone is easy. Way lighter and smaller than a laptop.
5. Play simple graphic games, anywhere.
6. Have your reference material always with you.
7. Presentations on the fly! -cords needed :-(

Let's All Tone It Down a Little

I want to send my condolences to the families and people that were harmed in Tuscon. I also want to apologize to anyone that misconstrued my viewpoints or attempt at humor as a call to violence against anyone or anything. Peace be with you all.

Feel Good Story

I read a article on Digg(?) a few days ago about a homeless man, Ted Williams, who has that deep bass, friendly, honest sounding voice you hear on radio or t.v. commercials. It was interesting, so I posted it on my Facebook  He sort of looks like a jovial zombie werewolf type with a voice that doesn't match his appearance.  I did a search of him the next day and it turns out that the video shot by a photograher with the Columbia Dispatch went viral and he's in negotiations with the Cleveland Cavs and has a home given to him by Quicken Loans.  Let's hope he stays with God and doesn't go back to the pipe.  Good luck Ted.

This first video below is how a homeless guy became famous on the internet.

The second video is an update on what happened to him.

UPDATE: Unfortunately my concerns were realized.  It turns out Williams was just conning everyone about God helping him get off drugs for the last 2 years.  He was still drinking everyday and just recently checked-in to a rehab center :-(

Favorite One Sentence

There's a website called One Sentence and this particular sentence moves me.  There's plenty of good ones and it really doesn't have much relevance (my mother is a fine looking woman and never said anything like that) to me but moves me anyway.

One of the saddest things I've ever heard is when my mother said, "I always wished I could have been just a little bit pretty."
